Marine Viruses are abundant, outnumbering bacteria 10:1. They drive host diversification and influence host metabolism.

megx.net takes the first steps towards addressing a recent community call for the integration of genomic and biogeochemical data by incorporating the sequenced marine phage genomes. The integration of non-marine phage genomes and metagenomes is underway!

We also provide access to marine phage genome reports in GCDML format. Download these reports for manually curated information about each phage, including host, pathogenicity, and interpolated environmental data (available through our GIS Tools).

Note: Location coordinates are, at times, manually determined from text descriptors (ie: Scripp's Pier) when exact lat/long are missing from the publication or GenBank entry. These incidents are noted in the GCDML file.
